Our Educational Philosophy

Community Christian School will incorporate a variety of methods and materials for teaching our children according to biblical principles.  Our curriculum for every subject will have a biblical foundation under girding it.  Every subject will be taught from God’s perspective, not man’s perspective.  Every educational effort will work toward the goal of partnering with parents in graduating a godly twelfth grader.  We are working towards becoming a fully classically modeled school. The Classical approach gives attention to the developmental progression of optimum learning stages.

A great literature-based curriculum will move students toward cultural literacy and provide the foundation for a broader understanding of history.  A strong phonics-based curriculum is important to teach reading skills when used alongside a consistent exposure to quality children’s literature.

Science is the study of God’s creation. The facts of creation can be understood properly only by looking at them through the lens of Scripture (Hebrews 11:3). By studying science as God’s creation the student learns to see God’s awesome power, the beauty of His handiwork and design reflected throughout creation.

Each curriculum selected for use at Community Christian School will be taught from a Christian perspective.  “All truth is God’s truth” and we are committed to teaching a sound biblical worldview throughout all academic disciplines.  Starting in elementary school and continuing through high school, students will be taught how to defend their faith.  Throughout the teaching of theology, history, science and philosophy, apologetics will be presented as a natural and necessary part of living in this world.   We want to develop in our students the inspiration to seek, find and defend the truth.

Latin improves learning. For example: the grammatical structure of English is based on Latin, as is about 50 percent of the English Vocabulary. Studies have shown that students that study Latin score higher on standardized tests.  Latin also prepares the child for study of other foreign languages: French, Spanish, and Italian are all related to Latin.

It is our belief that parents are first and foremost responsible for their child’s education.  The strong partnership between parent and teacher is a characteristic of Community Christian School that is not found in any other type of school.  The relationship between the parent and the teacher will be based on trust and a mutual desire to honor the Lord Jesus Christ in all that is taught to our children.
